Winter 2025 Newsletter
On Friday, April 11th, Angelina Ireland will be presenting--The Road To Sanctuary-- at St. Joseph's Catholic Church Hall in Salmon Arm.
Angelina Ireland is the executive Director of Delta Hospice Society. The Delta Hospice Society developed out of a need to support families living with life threatening illness and those who are bereaved. Incorporated in July 1991, the non-profit organization operated in Delta till it lost access to the facility it had built, due to a dispute with the government over providing M.A.I.D. The society now works to provide palliative care free from Euthanasia.

Sunday, May 25th, we will be hosting Alex Schadenberg - a Speaker from Euthanasia Prevention Coalition. Alex Schadenberg, founder of Euthanasia Prevention Coalition will be coming to speak in Salmon Arm. Euthanasia Prevention Coalition works to preserve legal prohibitions and ethical guidelines against mercy killing, to increase awareness, quality and availability of hospice and palliative care, to improve pain control and to educate the public on the harms of legal euthanasia. Stay tuned for details!
According to the Fifth annual report on Medical Assistance in Dying in Canada there were over 15 thousand euthanasia deaths in 2023 (the most recent statistics). Between June 2016, when it was legalized and December 2023 there have been over 60 thousand euthanasia deaths. Now the number is likely more than 75 thousand euthanasia deaths. This number continues to grow ever faster.

Shuswap Pro-life is a society dedicated to raising awareness of the value of human life.
We strive for a society in which every human life
is protected, respected and valued from conception until natural death. Life is worth it.
Our Shuswap Pro Life mission statement says that we value human life. And that means all lives - including yours!
Since our mind, body and spirit are all connected, what we do for one of these components affects them all, positively or negatively.
So, as winter continues on, we thought we’d give some practical ways for us all to take care of the mind, the body and the spirit.
- Regular exercise (example – walking 30 minutes a day)
- Healthy meals (eating regularly throughout the day and drinking lots of water!)
- Prioritize sleep (set a reasonable bedtime and put away technology at least ½ hr before)
- Relaxing activities (examples – praying, reading, taking 10 deep breaths, going out into nature)
- Practice being thankful (example – record things you’re grateful for in a journal)
- Connect with family or friends (e.g. – call, text or write to someone. Guaranteed it will bless them too)
- Volunteer (example – offer to serve at your church or Second Harvest)
These are just a few ideas to help! Let’s care for each other as we walk through life together.
We’ve also included a link below that might be helpful to some who are really struggling.

In this newsletter we would like to feature Canadian Physicians for Life.
“It was formed by Dr. Will Johnston, a Vancouver physician. Dr. Johnston had a heart for the elderly, and pregnant mothers for whom he delivered free of charge. I could even phone him at home, asking him to contact a very worried pregnant woman who was addicted to drugs, and was seeking an abortion. Dr. Johnston called this lady and saved the baby and the mother from further drug use.” – Hildegard Kreig
Canada is the euthanasia capital of the world, and a cautionary tale of where euthanasia expansion leads. The good news is that the world is taking note and heeding the warning.
"At Canadian Physicians for Life, we are taking responsibility for humanizing healthcare in our country.
We know that it is up to us to make the difference that we all are hoping for, especially for the good of patients and the integrity of the profession.
We do this through forming new generations of medical professionals and by presenting a positive alternative vision for medicine and healthcare to the culture-at-large through:
- CPL’s Annual Conference - offering the premier pro-life medical conference in Canada
- CPL’s Bioethics Symposia - providing humanities and ethics education to medical students on topics like conscience, mental health, and human flourishing
- CPL’s Mentoring Programs - creating case studies, facilitating connections with mentors and promoting small group meetings
- CPL’s Legal Interventions - intervening in court cases to defend MAID-free spaces
- CPL’s Cultural Impact - engaging the culture through speaking engagements, podcast appearances, and strategic cooperation with international allies
